NZK Governance hui and AGM

Over 90 people attended the biennial NZK Governance Hui and AGM on 15-16 September.
Our keynote speaker was Graeme Nahkies, director, BoardWorks International.There was 13 workshops and presentations as well as time to talk and network. The NZK annual general meeting (AGM) was held on Friday afternoon. At the AGM James Patea was elected as president and Helen McNaughten (Napier Kindergarten Association) and Hilarie Nicholl (Whanganui Kindergarten Association) were re-elected to the NZK board. Following the AGM there was an awards ceremony where the NZK Presidents Award was presented to Nelson Tasman RFKA for their initiative Tamariki Hauora - a partnership with the Nelson Marlborough DHB to provide an ECE service within the hospital and the NZK Cultural Award was presented to Northland Kindergarten Association in recognition of the associations' strong sense of belonging, reinforced by the entire teaching staff and management team embracing Haka Pōwhiri. NZK paid tribute to Frank Bourgeois and acknowledged his contribution to kindergarten over many years and in his role as president of NZK for the past six years.
